People call this duct sealing or air duct repair. Same visit, same written quote, same technician.
What duct sealing actually involves
We start at the air handler and work outward, checking plenum connections, branch takeoffs, boots at each register and the return side. Leaks get sealed with mastic and mesh or the right foil tape depending on the joint, and loose connections are mechanically fastened first so the seal has something solid to hold. Crushed or disconnected flex gets repaired rather than taped over. Where insulation was pulled back or soaked, we address that too, because a sealed duct in a damp crawlspace still needs a dry wrap.
What we check and what we install
We look for daylight at joints, dust streaking around boots, negative pressure in closed rooms and register temperatures that drop off at the far end of a run. In crawlspaces with high water tables we check for sagging pans, standing moisture and duct board that has gone soft. Repairs may include new collars, mastic on every seam, fresh straps and hangers to lift ducts off wet ground, and replacement sections of insulated flex where the old run is beyond saving.
How we decide sealing is the right call
Sealing makes sense when the equipment tests out fine but the delivery does not. If the blower is moving air, refrigerant charge checks out, and rooms still fight each other, the ducts are usually the reason. We also recommend it when the return side pulls humid crawlspace air, which makes the whole house feel sticky in hurricane season. If the system is undersized, badly routed or corroded through, we will say so instead of selling you tape on a system that needs redesign.

Will duct sealing help with humidity?
Often yes. Leaky returns pull damp crawlspace or attic air into the system, so the house feels muggy even when the thermostat is satisfied. Sealing the return side keeps that moisture out of your conditioned air.
How long does the work take?
Most homes are a one-day job, depending on crawlspace access and how many runs need repair. Tight or wet crawlspaces slow things down. We give you a scope after the inspection, not before.
Can tape from the hardware store do the job?
Standard cloth duct tape dries out and lets go, usually within a season or two. We use mastic and rated foil tape over mechanically fastened joints so the seal stays put through summer humidity and winter cycling.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads against the actual room temperature. That short conversation tells us what parts to load on the truck.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why, before any work starts.
- Step 3
Repair and verify
We make the repair, then run the system through a full cycle and measure temperatures at the supply and return. If something upstream caused the failure, we tell you so it does not repeat.

Why homeowners call us
- We know salt airCoastal homes lose condenser coils to salt corrosion years before inland systems do. We look for fin damage and pitted line sets on every visit, because a clean-looking unit can still be shedding capacity from the outside in.
- Humidity is part of the jobHurricane-season air loads a system in ways a temperature reading will not show. If your house feels clammy at 74 degrees, we look at run times, airflow and drainage rather than just adding refrigerant and leaving.
- Crawlspace realitiesHigh water tables mean wet ground under ductwork, rusted plenums and condensate lines with nowhere good to drain. We check what is happening under the floor, since that is often where comfort problems actually begin.
- Straight answersWe tell you what failed, what it will take to fix, and whether a repair makes sense on an older system. No pressure to replace something that has honest years left in it, and no vague diagnosis.
