The independent heating and cooling company across Hampton Roads and coastal Virginia

Whole-Home Air Purifiers

We install whole-home air purifiers into existing heating and cooling systems for homeowners across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington DC. This is the job when portable units in one room are not keeping up, when dust settles again a day after cleaning, or when allergy symptoms follow the air handler running. The purifier mounts at the ductwork so every cycle of conditioned air passes through it. Call us and describe what you are smelling or reacting to, and we will look at your ducts and blower.

What the installation actually involves

We open the return side of your air handler or furnace and build in a housing for the purifier, then seal the connections so unfiltered air cannot slip past. Depending on the type, that means a deep media cabinet, a UV or ionization module wired to the blower, or both. Sheet metal work and a power connection are part of it. Most jobs finish in a day. We run the system afterward and confirm airflow at the vents has not dropped off.

What we check before we install anything

We measure static pressure and look at blower capacity first, because a purifier adds resistance and a marginal system will struggle. Then we inspect duct joints, the return path, and the crawlspace, since damp air and high water tables across the region pull musty smells into the ductwork no purifier will fix on its own. We check the filter slot size, the space around the air handler, and whether a condensate or drainage issue is feeding the problem.

How we decide a whole-home unit is the right call

If your complaint moves room to room with the air handler, whole-home treatment makes sense. If it lives in one bedroom or one corner of the house, we would rather find the leak, the duct gap, or the humidity source than sell you hardware. Homes with pets, smokers, wood floors, or hurricane-season humidity usually see a real difference. We tell you honestly when sealing ducts or correcting a return would do more for your indoor air quality than a purifier.

Whole-Home Air Purifiers — quick answers

Will a whole-home air purifier reduce humidity too?

No. Purifiers handle particles, odors and some biological growth. Humidity is a separate job that needs a properly sized cooling system, sealed ducts, or a dedicated dehumidifier. We often address both, but they are different pieces of equipment.

Does the system have to be running for it to work?

Yes. Air only gets treated when the blower moves it through the unit. During mild spring and fall weeks we often set the fan to circulate on a schedule so the purifier keeps working between heating and cooling calls.

How often does the purifier need service?

Media cabinets get changed on a schedule, usually annually, and UV lamps have a service life even when they still glow. We note the interval on the unit at installation and check it during regular maintenance visits.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads against the actual room temperature. That short conversation tells us what parts to load on the truck.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why, before any work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system through a full cycle and measure temperatures at the supply and return. If something upstream caused the failure, we tell you so it does not repeat.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know salt airCoastal homes lose condenser coils to salt corrosion years before inland systems do. We look for fin damage and pitted line sets on every visit, because a clean-looking unit can still be shedding capacity from the outside in.
  • Humidity is part of the jobHurricane-season air loads a system in ways a temperature reading will not show. If your house feels clammy at 74 degrees, we look at run times, airflow and drainage rather than just adding refrigerant and leaving.
  • Crawlspace realitiesHigh water tables mean wet ground under ductwork, rusted plenums and condensate lines with nowhere good to drain. We check what is happening under the floor, since that is often where comfort problems actually begin.
  • Straight answersWe tell you what failed, what it will take to fix, and whether a repair makes sense on an older system. No pressure to replace something that has honest years left in it, and no vague diagnosis.

  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
